“Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” Is technology leading ideas or ideas leading technology? The Ten Dreams of Technology explores some of the possibilities with hope for advancing art and technology.
The ten dreams are:

- Immersion
- A virtual reality or “responsive environments” with full tactile feedback.
- World Peace
- The power to create and destroy must be equal or weighted on the side of creation.
- The electronic café was the precursor to WWW.
- Transparency
- “File sharing” = “Life sharing”
- Personal computers become reflections of the owner.
- Flows
- Controlled growth in directions manipulated by feedback.
- Open Work
- Interpretation as a basis for multiple interactions between art and viewer.
- The expanded possibilities for creation through access to create and change information.
- “Other”
- Interaction on a level that goes beyond understanding the “other” and creates a sense of the “other’s” experience.
- New Art
- Evolution of media beyond experimental to create a whole that is greater than its parts.
- Hacking the Dream
- Corporate influence on the boundaries of technology to conform it to institutional information disallowing for creative openness
